Abigail Page, Senior Food Policy Consultant and Lead Researcher at Bremner & Co, has co-authored a study for the Food Education Learning Landscape project, in which she examined the role of school food education and school food culture in England, as well as their impact on pupils’ ability to adopt health-promoting behaviors. The study involved extensive surveys of food teachers, school leaders, teachers, parents, and pupils.
Findings revealed that factors such as curriculum time, teaching facilities, budget, class size, and teacher training are pivotal for effective curriculum implementation. Additionally, the study highlighted the importance of monitoring and evaluating school food provision and developing comprehensive health-supporting school food practices to enhance pupils’ health capabilities and inform future policy and practice.
