Tower Hamlets Council School Food Improvement Programme

The brief

Bremner and Co were commissioned by Tower Hamlets Council to drive the co-production and delivery of a new School Food Improvement Programme across their 100 primary and secondary schools. This involved bringing together a wide range of local authority and school teams and to work up and agree a business case and action plan.

The results

The School Food Improvement Programme is a multi-intervention plan to support all schools to improve school food culture. Bremner & Co brought together public health, education, finance and catering teams to coalesce around and agree a set of clear actions, all of which are owned and embedded into mainstream local authority activity. The programme has strong governance and effective monitoring and evaluation processes, which mean successes can be tracked and shared, and learnings adopted into a cycle of continual school food improvement. This ultimately will mean better food for Tower Hamlets children.

“Bremner & Co were crucial in building a solid base for the programme at the start, connecting it into wider national school food framework, identifying opportunities within the council to connect departments and improve the efficiency of our work around school food.”
